The tutorial provides information on the main parameters and characteristics of ice; on the mechanics of ice destruction and peculiarities of the effect of ice on hydraulic structures. The main provisions for determining ice loads on hydraulic structures were considered; factors affecting ice load; main design cases. A separate chapter is devoted to methods for protecting port and shelf structures from ice impacts. Ice load calculation is given in the examples.
