This reference manual on Buddhist iconography is an extended reprint of the author's works published in 1981-1995. The book covers the entire system of iconography of northern Buddhism: tables of iconographic elements with their Sanskrit, Tibetan, Russian and English names are given, a standard for describing Buddhist images is proposed, on the basis of which a determinant is created with a database of about 5,000 images and 7,000 names. The first part of this determinant published here allows you to identify 1,052 images or, conversely, to find out by name what approximately 1,500 Buddhist characters look like.
