The book offered to the reader covers the lyrics of ancient Greece in the form as it was reflected in the translations of Russian poets mainly in the 19th and partly in the 18th and 20th centuries. The collection has the task of introducing not so much to ancient Greek lyrics as such, but to their perception in Russian poetry. Therefore, the translations are selected both from the point of view of the completeness of reproducing all the features of the original, and on the basis of the characteristic of its perception at a particular stage in the development of the Russian artistic word.
