In contrast to the epics of other European peoples, the Irish epic was formed not in verse, but in prose. From the huge number of old Irish legends that have survived to us, the translator selected samples from two groups of sagas. The first contains the oldest of the heroic sagas, namely, those belonging to the Kuhulin cycle. The second group is composed of sagas of rather different eras and cycles. Common to all these stories is the predominance of feelings in them, instead of a heroic element, fiction and tragic collisions. You can conditionally call them sagas romantic or fantastic.
