Ladies' Happiness - the eleventh novel in the Rugon-Makkary series - was published in 1883. Continuing the best traditions of the French social and everyday novel of the first half of the 19th century, Zola in "Ladies' Happiness" was the first among the writers of France in the 80s of the 19th century to mark the beginning of the concentration of capital in trade and the emergence of monopolies.
