World War I was the first sniper war. It was on its fronts that sniping first became widespread, it was here that its basic principles and specific techniques were determined (for example, sniper pairs - a fighter shooter and a target designator observer). This book, the first professional study of sniper business, was translated into Russian 85 years ago, but for two-thirds of a century it lay in special shelters under the heading "For official use" and is only now becoming available to the general reader.
