In 1935, under the leadership of V.M. Sidelnikov carried out a folklore expedition, the route of which covered the left coast of the Volga: Tsarevshchina, Shiryaevo, Russian Barkovka, Stavropol, Khryashchevka, etc. The result of this expedition was the collection "Volga Folklore" (1937). Fairy tales, legends and legends, songs, oral tales and ditties, information collected about the storyteller A.K. Novopoltsev in the village of Yaksashnoe-Pomrachino from his grandson A.L. Romanychev.
