The book of Luc Boltanski and Laurent Thevenot is the most significant work of French sociology of the last thirty years (the period that followed the appearance of the main works of Pierre Bourdieu). It proposed the theory of society, which formed the basis of the so-called "pragmatic turn" or "return of the subject" in the French social sciences of the 1990s.
