The book in fictionalized form outlines the events of one of the turning points in the history of China in the second half of the 14th century, which was marked by the stubborn armed struggle of the Chinese people against the Mongol conquerors who seized the country in the 13th century and established their power there, expelling them and establishing power of the Chinese imperial Ming dynasty. The Biography of Zhu Yuanzhang (1328-1398), one of the leaders of this struggle and the founders of the Ming Dynasty, which ruled in China from 1368 to 1644, is the last work of the famous Chinese historian and politician Professor Wu Han.
