The book introduces one of the most interesting attractions of Yekaterinburg - the first residential skyscraper "Chekist's House," built in the capital of the Urals in the early 1930s in the style of constructivism. It contains a detailed story about the history of the construction of the House, its architectural features, about the tenants and the place in the history of the country with the forgotten name of the USSR. The history of the "Chekist House" is very interesting. Here lived the leaders of the Sverdlovsk region from I. Kabakov to B. Yeltsin. Its walls still store a large number of secrets and legends with which the author introduces readers. The book contains documents and photographs from public and private archives, memoirs of residents of the "Chekist House" of different years, many of which are published for the first time.
