Zoryan (pseudonym; real name Arakelyan) Stefan Yegiyaevich [3 (15) .9.1889, the village of Karaklis, now the city of Vanadzor - 14.10.1967, Yerevan], Armenian writer, academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Armenian SSR (1965). Published since 1909. Secretary of the joint venture of Armenia (1950-54). In the first collections of short stories "Gloomy People" (1918), "Fence" (1923), the inner world of ordinary people was recreated in a realistic manner. The novels "Chairman of the Revolutionary Committee" (1923) and "Girl from the Library" (1926), the novel "The Amiryan Family" (1921, fully published in 1963) are devoted to the themes of the Civil War of 1917-22 and the establishment of Soviet power in Armenia. Other writings include: the autobiographical novel "The Story of One Life"; the historical novel "King of Popes" (1944); "The Book of Memories" (1958); books for children and youth; translations into Armenian of the works of L. Tolstoy, I. Turgenev, M. Prishvin. He was awarded the Order of Lenin. This edition presents the story "The Story of One Life," and other stories and stories.
