The book of L. Portisch and B. Sharkozy "600 endings" is quite accessible to beginners, but I think that it will also be interesting to qualified chess players. Unlike most endgame works, which, although more fundamental, are most often used not as a textbook, but as a reference book, this book is a relatively easy reading - if you wish, you can even do without chess.
