This edition is a reprint of the historical almanac "Past," published by the Paris publishing house "Atheneum." Its purpose is the introduction into the scientific and public circulation of previously unknown materials on Russian history, especially the history of the 20th century. The reader is offered numerous eyewitness accounts, diaries, memoirs, notes, the epistolary heritage of figures of domestic culture and public life from Soviet and foreign archives, private collections, family collections. The vast majority of materials are commented in detail, which allows the reader to give a large amount of additional information, often scattered across hard-to-reach sources, to enter documents in the context of time. Articles and studies based on rich archival material interpret unknown or little-studied episodes of Russian history of our century.
