The volume includes selected works of Russian classic writers: I.S. Turgenev, N.S. Leskov and A.N. Ostrovsky. The works collected in the book belong to wonderful examples of national verbal culture. No matter how different the artistic talents of Turgenev, Ostrovsky and Leskov, realistic pathos triumphed in their work. In their works, readers were exposed to harsh raznochintsy, and deep-seated righteous and truth-seekers, and heroes with heightened and lively pain for a person, and gifted, truly heroic natures who found it difficult to turn around in the conditions of that time.
