The book was written based on original materials collected by the author in the field during dialectological expeditions in the Chuvash Republic and the Republic of Mari El during 2004. The work presents a comprehensive study of Russian dialects, including historical and geographical essays, a description of the ethno-linguistic situation, an analysis of the linguistic features of Russian dialects of Chuvashia and Mari El.
