This book provides a systematic presentation of the issues that introduce quantum optics. Photonic ideas about the nature of light are considered; these representations are applied to the explanation of various optical phenomena, including photoeffect, luminescence, nonlinear optical phenomena. Single- and multiphoton processes of interaction of light with matter at the level of elementary acts, the state of the quantized radiation field, and optical coherence issues are analyzed.
