The book outlines the theoretical and experimental foundations of shadow methods, which are the most common in the study of transparent heterogeneities. Geometric theory is considered, numerous varieties of methods are described: photometric, defocused diaphragms, color image, photovoltaic registration, phase contrast, etc. Examples of practical application of each of the methods in difficult conditions of a physical experiment and practical recommendations for their use are given.
