The book is one of the first attempts in popular science literature to set out the scientific foundations of energy conservation - how to calculate the fuel efficiency, how to determine energy costs for various objects. Basic information on modern methods for calculating exergy flows is also given, the accumulation of exergy of solar radiation in salt ("solar") ponds is described in detail.
