I was lucky to see the first pictures with the participation of Gerard Depardieu in the early 1970s at work screenings in Sovexportfilm, an office that was then engaged in the acquisition and distribution of foreign films in the USSR. Then he was content with episodic roles of bandits and hooligans. But Gerard was lucky: already at the beginning of his career he had a chance to work in films with great masters.
