This dictionary is a composition of three frequency dictionaries, each of which has its own corpus of texts: 1) texts of nine Moscow and St. Petersburg newspapers for 1997, 2) a set of Nezavisimaya Gazeta for 1996-2000, 3) a corpus of newspaper headlines 1991-2000. The total volume of three corpuses is 50 million words of text. The printed version of the dictionary contains 52 thousand different words, in the electronic version the dictionary exceeds 140 thousand different words, and the reader will also find the corresponding reverse dictionary there. In the second volume of the dictionary, tables of the distribution of vocabulary by newspapers, genres and topics will be given; the electronic version will include tables of binary collocations.
