The book discusses the physical principles of X-ray generation during the interaction of an electron beam with a metal surface. The fundamental possibility of reducing the operating temperature of X-ray systems by using carbon nanotubes for emitters and improving the operating characteristics of X-ray tubes using mono- and nanostructured materials is discussed.
