TB-1 had a cantilever monoplane scheme with a high-profile wing, had a high carrying capacity and relatively high speed, good stability in all flight modes and simple piloting technique. In operation, the TB-1 aircraft has proven itself to be a simple, reliable and unpretentious aircraft. In addition to the land version, a float version of the TB-1P was also produced. In the USSR, this was the first experience of putting such a large aircraft on floats. In 1929, on the plane ANT-4 "Country of Soviets" the crew of the pilot S.A. Shestakov made an outstanding flight on the route Moscow - New York with a total length of 21242 km. At the ANT-4, pilot A.V. Lyapidyavsky landed on an ice floe, where the crew of the sunken ship Chelyuskin was located and took some people to the mainland. Decommissioned, the TB-1 were used for a long time as transport aircraft. TB-1 production ended in 1932. A total of 217 aircraft of this type were built.
