An important and unresolved issue at the intersection of physics and biology has been addressed. It has been shown that all substances that serve as the basis for the construction of living systems have geometric structural features that affect all stages of development from the simplest molecules to living organisms and are manifested in the inequality of right and left forms. Various assumptions about the causes of dissymmetry are discussed and it is shown that this issue is closely related to the general question of the origin of life.
