Saint Alexy spent almost his entire life in Moscow. He brought up the young Grand Duke Dmitry Ioannovich, managed state affairs instead of him, took care of Russia and accumulated that Russian force with which, soon after the death of the saint, Prince Dmitry Ioannovich Donskoy entered the battle with the Tatars and defeated them.
