"It is not so surprising," writes St. John (347-407) about the feat of the myrrh-bearing wives, "that they became attached with their hearts to the Lord Savior in those days when Divine glory appeared through the veil of His humility and humiliation in His miracles, when a sermon unheard of on earth was heard. But it is amazing for our thought to see them not shaken in their love for the Lord, when He, tormented, mourned, was delivered up to death."
