IL-2 aircraft reference book is compiled by OER of Voroshilov plant using a set of aircraft drawings effective at the plant, technical description of this aircraft, its operating manual, album of repair tolerances for machine bolting and other technical documentation (refer to the literature list at the end of the reference book). The first edition of this reference book was issued with a circulation of 100 copies. and was intended for use by the masters of the ERA of the plant in their practical work with aircraft in military units. Due to the large number of requests for the expulsion of the reference book from various organizations operating the IL-2, the plant undertook its reprint with preliminary revision and addition of a number of sections of this manual. The second edition of the handbook reflects all changes in the design of the aircraft carried out at the plant until December 1943 inclusive.
