This "Brief Dictionary of Operational-Tactical and General Military Words (Terms)" is the first reference manual designed for officers of the Soviet Army and cadets of military schools. The dictionary aims to give in the most concise form an explanation of military words, terms and concepts encountered when reading articles in newspapers, magazines, as well as when studying tactical and military-technical literature. The dictionary includes only operational-tactical and general military terms with which officers are most often encountered in everyday activities. Many established military concepts, as well as military historical terms, which may be the content of independent dictionaries or a military encyclopedia, are not included in this dictionary, so as not to go beyond the brief dictionary.
