Project 1134-B large anti-submarine ships (design code "Berkut-B," according to NATO codification - Kara class, naval nickname - "bukari") - a type of large anti-submarine ships, which has been in service with the USSR Navy since 1971 and in service with the Navy of the Russian Federation since 1991. The construction of the Petropavlovsk BOD began on September 9, 1973 at the 61 Communards shipyard in Nikolaev. November 22, 1974 the ship was launched, December 29, 1976 entered service. February 5, 1977 included in the Red Banner Pacific Fleet. The ship housed the headquarters of the operation to lift the wreckage of the South Korean Boeing, shot down on September 1, 1983 near Moneron Island. In June 1994, withdrawn from the fleet.
