The proposed work is devoted to the distant past of a small region of North Ossetia - the so-called Elkhotov Gate, of course, it is not the scale of the territory under study, but its historical significance. The territory of interest to us received the name of the Elkhotov Gate by the name of the large Ossetian village of Elkhotovo, which arose in 1838 during the resettlement of Ossetians from mountain gorges to the plain. This name is modern. More ancient is the name "Tatartup tract," in the first half of the XIX century. bearing the second name Bekhan.
