Books are an official document that reflects the current state of the species of plants, mushrooms and animals of Ukraine that are endangered or in need of protection. Information is provided about 826 species of plants and mushrooms, and 542 species of animals are given their Ukrainian and Latin names, taxonomic affiliation, conservation status, scientific significance, range of the species and its distribution in Ukraine, population size and structure, causes of population change, general biomorphological characteristics, population conservation regime and measures for protection, reproduction and breeding, in specially created conditions, economic and commercial significance, the main sources of information. Each article is accompanied by an illustration and map of the distribution of the species in Ukraine. Also accommodated are regulatory documents on the Red Book of Ukraine and reference materials.
