No artist has received such nationwide recognition and none has been subjected to such fierce persecution of professional criticism as Ilya Sergeevich Glazunov, the founder of the Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, an outstanding person of the 20th century. His life resembles a constantly active volcano, spewing avalanches of good to people, friends, students and streams of hatred for evil, adherents of the avant-garde, which is opposed by a thousand paintings painted by him for the glory of high realism.
