In the spring of 1945, German troops carried out the last major offensive operation called the Spring Awakening in the area of ​ ​ Lake Balaton. Timely countermeasures of the Soviet troops did not allow the Germans to achieve serious success. However, during a week and a half of continuous fighting, German troops battered the Russians very much, almost disrupting their attack on Vienna.
