Systematized information on modern AC sources (welding transformers) intended for various types of arc welding. Based on the analysis of the properties of the welding arc, the requirements for sources are formulated. The principles of operation of transformers with mechanical and electric (thyristor) regulation and units of specialized installations based on them are considered. Information on diagrams, designs and technical characteristics of sources produced by the industry is given, operational and safety issues are covered.
