Capacitance is the ability of a conductor to hold a detectable number of charges of electricity. If two conductors are given a charge that is different, but equal to the value, then a certain potential difference will arise between them. The larger the charge value is communicated to the wires, the higher the potential difference will be. Experience shows that the amount of electricity. which is capable of holding conductors, i.e. their mutual capacity, depends on the size of the wires, the distance between them and the properties of the medium - the dielectric between the wires.
