Last Poems" Rimbaud dates back to the spring and summer of 1872 and was written partly in Charleville, partly in Paris. Not all of them have a designated date. Their occurrence is associated with the general trend towards "musicality first" during this period for Verlaine and Rimbaud. Less than a year later, in the book "One Summer in Hell," Rimbaud characterized his "Last Poems" - which were indeed the last - with complete detachment, as a passed stage.
