One of the fundamental categories that reveal the essence of a person is considered - conscience. The formation of this concept in ancient philosophy and in Christianity, its development in domestic and foreign psychology are shown. An attempt was made to highlight the individual structure that determines a person's conscience, methodological recommendations for its upbringing are presented.
