Russia was one of the countries where Egyptology has gained extraordinary popularity since F. Champollion deciphered Egyptian hieroglyphs in 1822. Unfortunately, domestic scientists for a long time were deprived of the opportunity to study ancient Egyptian history and culture directly in this country, which largely led to the development of Russian science. However, since 1995, specialists from the Russian Academy of Sciences began to take part in international expeditions and conduct independent research in various regions of Egypt: in Alexandria, Tell Ibrahim Awad, Giza, Memphis, Fayum and Luxor. As a result of these studies, sources were discovered and put into scientific circulation, allowing to revise many pages of ancient Egyptian history. The book is an overview of the history and recent achievements of Russian Egyptology.
