This monograph is the first attempt in the world literature to systematically present the theory of equilibrium and stability figures of "compressible," primarily collisionless, gravitating systems. Many of the results outlined in the book are from authors with collaborators. As astrophysical applications, such topical issues as the problem of the formation of spiral arms of galaxies, the law of planetary distances, issues of stability of systems such as Saturn rings, etc. are selected.
