Gustave Aimard; real name - Olivier Gloux (French Gloux); 13.9.1818, Paris, - 20.6.1883, ibid.) - French writer, author of adventure novels, one of the classics of the Western genre in literature. Along with Eugene Xu and Paul Feval - the most popular representative of French mass literature of the XIX century. Emar's works were very popular in pre-revolutionary Russia. In 1899, a 12-volume edition of his works was published in St. Petersburg. The writer's novels were read by Nikolai Gumilyov, Alexander Green, Samuil Marshak. The ninth volume of the collected works of G. Emar includes the novels "Forester" and "Sea Titans," completing the cycle of novels about the exploits of pirates of the Caribbean.
