Denis Davydov is known to us as a legend man, hussar, poet. He became in our mass consciousness the personification of that "club" of the people's war, which crushed the rear and communications of Napoleon's "Great Army," which invaded Russia. Everyone knows his poems and documentary "Notes of the Partisan." In these works, Davydov left the descendants a lively and detailed description of the events of the Patriotic War of 1812 and foreign campaigns of the Russian army. The reader can familiarize himself in his notes not only with the chronicle of hostilities, but also learn about the appearance and character of commanders and emperors of the early 19th century: Alexander I, Napoleon Bonaparte, Suvorov and other great people of that time. However, few people know that General Davydov's pen belongs to the theoretical development of the organization of the partisan movement behind enemy lines, formalized by him in the main work of his life, "The Experience of the Theory of Partisan Action." This unique book has not been published in Russia since 1848 and is being reprinted for the first time in 200 years. As Colonel Vladimir Vasilyevich Kvachkov writes in his preface, the time has come to reveal to the public the name of this Russian general, who was much ahead of his time, as a prominent military theorist and founder of the Russian theory of special actions. Before you, reader, is a book 200 long years ahead of military thought. Special Forces of Russia - BE!
