The first in Russian author's collection of one of the prominent Polish science fiction writers of the 50-60s. Professor Bonnard, the current head of the institute, performed a unique operation on the hopelessly ill Jose Brago. He "rewrote" his personality into an artificial brain. The writer's body was buried, and his "soul" remained to live within the walls of the institute, creating new novels and living his own, not very enviable, life. At the same time, some political forces of this country would like to have the secret of this discovery, and when they could not do it, they destroyed the object itself - Jose Brago, i.e. his "soul." The book includes works: The Edge of Immortality; Happiness Factory; Writing; Antimir; Toccata.
