The book consistently develops the foundations of quantum field theory in relation to the consideration of elementary excitations in a solid (electrons, phonons, excitons, plasmons, magnons, etc.) and interactions between them. As it is presented, the author introduces the reader to modern methods of quantum field theory of a solid. The construction of the formal apparatus is carried out on the examples of specific problems, while constant attention is paid to the physical side of the matter.
