Sigmund Freud's classic work "The Psychology of the Masses and the Analysis of the Human Self" (Freud S. Massenpsychologie und Ich-analyze) is devoted to the application of a psychoanalytic approach to overcome the border between individual and social psychology. In essence, his work is a detailed psychoanalytic commentary on the ideas set forth by G. Lebon in The Psychology of Crowds. However, Freud is not satisfied with the explanation of the phenomena of crowd behavior: Lebon has not revealed where the mass needs a leader, why the leader influences the behavior of the crowd, what is the basis of prestige?
