This book tells about the history of sea robbers - from ancient pirates and filibusters to privateers of the 20th century. Pirates did not build their ships, they mined them at sea. Seeing a rich merchant ship, they boldly boarded. Most of the sea robbers were not really noble "gentlemen of fortune," their main goal was always treasures, and for this they did not spare not only strangers, but also their own lives.
