The events of the first post-revolutionary decade formed the basis of Vladimir Belyaev's action-packed trilogy "The Old Fortress." The book was reprinted more than thirty times, including in the Golden Library series, and was twice filmed - in 1938 (1st part) and 1955 (entitled "Alarming Youth"). The story of the fate of boys from a small Ukrainian town, found themselves in the thick of the civil war.
