Baptism is one of the twelve feasts of the Russian Orthodox Church. On this day, Christ came to John the Baptist, who preached on the banks of the Jordan, to be baptized from him. When Jesus left the water, the sky opened above him, and John saw the Holy Spirit descending on Jesus in the form of a dove.
