The second issue of a series of collections of materials on the history of the USSR (the first was published in 1985) includes documents related to the ancient Russian village (XI-XIII centuries) to the village on the eve and during the formation of the Russian centralized state (XIV-XV centuries) and the village of the XVI century. The collection is equipped with a scientific reference apparatus, an explanatory dictionary, lists of literature and sources and accepted abbreviations.
