The manual covers all the main components of the phonetic system of the language - sound, syllable, verbal stress, phrasal intonation. The greatest attention is paid to sounds - the development of modern pronounced variants of English vowels and consonants. Each English sound is dedicated to a special dialogue. Intonation markup of dialogs was performed by the author of this manual. In the manual, similar English and Russian sounds are considered primarily in terms of their differences.
