The Oceanographic Encyclopedia, published in New York in 1966, was compiled by famous scientists from different countries, including the Soviet Union. The encyclopedia contains more than 200 articles that provide modern information about the World Ocean: its hydrology, geology, hydrobiology, hydrochemistry, mineral and energy resources, etc., water masses, currents, tides, waves, level fluctuations, sea ice, sea optics and hydroacoustics, ocean and atmosphere interaction, a description of the oceans, seas, large bays and straits.
