In the monograph, myth is considered as a sequence of stages in the development of human consciousness. Mythical consciousness, in contrast to the emotional-sensory perception of the world, also combines sign-semantic speech consciousness formed in the inner space. Such two kinds of consciousness are not yet separated from each other, which makes the perception of spirits and gods as real as the sensually perceived surrounding world, the perception of which just proves the reality of their existence.
